Actions future to reduce air pollution levels of PM10 and nitrogen dioxide levels
To restore air quality compliance nitrogen dioxide and suspended particulates in diameter less than 10 microns, dated May 23, 2006, Government of the Generalitat of Catalonya adopted Decree 226/2006, which states various municipalities special protection areas and states that have been drawing up the Action Plan to improve air quality regarding the pollutants nitrogen oxides and suspended particulates less than 10 microns.
Santa Coloma has been included in Zone 1 - Barcelona area for which they have developed an Action Plan setting out the main measures to be taken by that reduce emissions of these pollutants to achieve high levels of air quality admissible.
Pollution smell
Currently, the Department of Environment of the Generalitat, is working on the draft Bill pollution smell. The aim of this law is to prevent and regulate odors before the existing social demand. In this regard, the Act sets targets values emissión odor that achieved activities in the areas that require more protection against odor, such as residential areas, using the best available technology and the implementation of Good Practice management, either through the implementation of corrective measures.
This law will provide various government tool for dealing with pollution smell that can occur at the local level, either by the presence of more than one source of odor or because of an unknown origin through the declaration of Zones of Smell And other special scheme for research and evaluation of complaints of offensive smells.
