In Santa Coloma operate more than 1300 m˛ of solar surface catchment

In total in the municipality, there are 1,300 m2 of surface solar installed. With these installations of renewable energy that are already operational in the city, has achieved annual savings of 800,000 kWh or equivalent to a saving of 185 Toneledas of CO2 annually, equivalent to the energy consumed by 320 homes.

Installation of solar thermal (hot water)

An example of this commitment is the adoption in 2005 of the Order for incorporating systems capture solar energy, energy saving and rationalization of the uses of water. The order requires installing capture solar thermal energy to all new buildings or renovation in Santa Coloma. The new housing should bring embedded systems, solar thermal energy production. This translates into a saving of energy and better use of water, are used as efficient boilers, sanitary wares with a double switch, timers on taps of public facilities ....

Installation of solar photovoltaic (electricity)

The Universal project funded by the European Community, has allowed the installation of photovoltaic plates to the annual output of 25,000 kW / h in the Central Library, equivalent to annual consumption of eight family homes. This facility will allow reducing greenhouse gas emissions at 6.14 tons of CO2 and 445 kg per year.
The station solar photovoltaic power generation in the IES Ramon Berenguer IV with an output of 5 kWp, and photovoltaic installation in the Central Business Forest Long (9 KWP).
The surface cuebierta public buildings suitable for the installation of photovoltaic solar panels is approximately 14,352 sq metres which represents an installed capacity of 1870 KWP.
